Melbourne Cup 2007- Efficient No. 6

Melbourne Cup days...

Remembering those days when I was in Melbourne Uni, when we picked up Herald Suns after signing up $10 for the membership card. While waiting for classes to start, Melbourne Cup with all the horses names and queue-numbers flooded the whole centre-fold. With the jockey's jersey colours and stats of horses. The weight, the no. of wins, the age, whether it's been castrated/de-sexed, etc. Jamie will ask me to help her choose for her dad on the horses to win... Vaguely recalling that we have to choose like 6-7 horses and if 3 of those get into the top 3 positions we win, or something like that... I had NO idea then...

Today. Times have changed, people grow old and Denise knows how to bet on Horses... Yes... I've bet on 4 horses ($1 on Win & $1 on Place) = $8 altogether

*Win = Odds are higher, betting on this horse to come in first place

*Place = Odds are much lower, betting on this horse to come in any of top 3 or 4 positions

And guess what... out of 4 horses, I've got 2 horses within top 3 positions. How's that for a first-timer?! Beginner's luck~ Woooo Hooooo~ $30 odd dollars in 30 min. Not too bad huh.

Actually I could have won much more... "thanks to Witit" I sold my horse to him on my Co. sweepstakes. If I win that, it'll be another $20 more. Bigger Wooo-Hoooo~!!! Anyway, what's mine will be mine... *big smiles*

Person 01 - bet $10 Win on Horse 1, 6 & 12. = Won $10 x $21 = $200++

Person 02 - bet $10 Win & $10 Place on Horse 6 + came in Last on Co. Sweeps ($10) = Won $10 x $21 + $10 x $5 + $10 = $270++

Person 03 - bet $20 Win on Horse 6 = Won $400++

Person 04 - bet $10 Win & $10 Place on Horse 20 ; bet BOX Trifecta on Horses 1, 11, 24 ; entered Co. Sweep for Horse no. 18 = Won = NOTHING~ ZIP!!

Person 04 is a person who is totally (claimed to be) WELL-VERSED with horses, as he owns one apparently. Old grumpy fart got nothing in the end. Initially, he was asked nicely to organise the Sweep for the Co.

Reply I've got: "Oh! it's too late now... If you wanted it, should have done it way in the morning..." Right... it was only 12ish...

Ok, so I asked if he could teach me how to do it, I'll organise it then: "Oh! It's easy. Haven't you done it before?" Right.....

Hasn't it occur to you that if I've done it before, would I be asking your old fart? -Nahz-

Moral of the story: Be nice to people, maybe Nature will be nicer back to you...
